This picture first caught my eye because of the way the artist painted the sunlight. I thought it looked very bright and real. It reminded me of one of the shorter chapters from the Grapes of Wrath, where Steinbeck describes spring in California in great detail. The painting also seemed to capture the vastnesses that is often described in the book. The Joad family went on such an incredible journey, and this painting depicts that very well.
